The origin of the Heuer skipper

Thanks to Heuer's collector's research efforts, we know a great deal about Heuer Carrera, and here at HODINKEE we have made our contributions, including an in - depth look at the origins of the first Carrera. While these early examples were published in 1963, there was a very special example that was designed and introduced exactly 50 years ago replica watches uk this year.

In 1967, the America's Cup was won by an extraordinary yacht: the rude revolutionary. Heuer decided to celebrate the occasion by creating the reference Heuer Carrera Skipper 7754, which is now considered one of the most collectible vintage Heuers in the world. Skipper was designed in 1967 and released for the first time in 1968 and remained in production with Heuer for the next ten years, with a series of different cases taken from Carrera or Autavia, but always retained the exceptional readability and durability required for a race test.

To say that the original reference Carrera Skipper 7754 is rare is, to put it simply, a rolex replica euphemism - it is believed that less than 20 were made and that today a dozen are still known, under variable conditions. The watch was so elusive that until its existence was finally officially confirmed in 2008, Heuer's collectors and researchers enthusiastically discussed whether the watch ever existed.
